Festival of Andhra Pradesh - Ugadi

Andhra Pradesh is a colorful Indian state full of festivities and occasions to celebrate almost round the year. Best known for its varied culture, this state is full of people from different religions and therefore there are many festivals celebrated here that too with great pomp and show.

Pongal is the first festival of the year in Andhra Pradesh. This festival is celebrated as a harvest festival between 13th to 15th January. It is a fest to celebrate the flourishing crops. Then comes Shivratri that is usually celebrated in February or March. This pre-historic festival is devoted to Lord Shiva and is celebrated all over the India.

Between April and May comes Ugadi or the New Year’s day in Andhra Pradesh. This festival is celebrated after holi. Ganesh Chaturthi is yet another festival of Andhra Pradesh that is celebrated to mark the birthday of Lord Ganesh in August or September. After this, comes the biggest festival of India, Diwali in October or November.

Apart from these festivals, there are four festivals that are celebrated by the tourism of Andhra Pradesh. Deccan Festival is celebrated in February, Lumbini Festival is celebrated in Decembe, Utsav in January and Rayalaseema Food and Dance Festival in October. .
