Festival of Andhra Pradesh - Ugadi

The festivals of Delhi are an integral part of Delhi culture. People of Delhi believe in celebrating all the festivals and therefore the list of festivals in Delhi is a long one. Some of the important festivals of Delhi include Diwali, Holi, Baisakhi, Lohri, Holi, Maha Shivratri, Christmas, Id, Mango festival, Phoolwalon ki Sair, Republic Day and Independence Day.

Being the capital city of India, the Republic day and the Independence Day hold an important place for Delhi. The Republic day is celebrated on January 26 every year. It is a national holiday and the grand military parade at Raj path is the main attraction of the day.

Though Republic Day is celebrated in every part of the country, it is special to Delhi. There are various cultural programs by school children from across the country. The presence of the President, the Prime Minister and various other dignitaries make it a special event. Similarly, the address of the Prime Minister from the Red Fort on every Independence Day makes it a special festival for Delhi.

Other than these, the people of Delhi also celebrate various regional festivals. Chittranjan Park is known for typical Bengali Durga Puja celebrations while Chhat Pooja, Dussehra and Diwali are also celebrated with great pomp.
