Weather in Delhi

The weather of any place depends on its geographical location. Delhi is located in the Gangatic plains between the Aravalis and the Himalayas. The city is situated at 225 meters above the sea level. It experiences extreme continental climate as it is located far away from the sea. The weather of the capital city can be divided into five seasons, that is, summer, winter, monsoon, spring, and autumn.

The summers of Delhi are extremely hot and therefore very unpleasant. The temperature during the summer rises to as high as 47 degrees Celsius. There are occasional dust storms to make things worse. The nights, however, are comparatively cooler than the days. The winters, on the other hand, are extremely cold.

The temperature drops to 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. The cold waves from the Himalayas make the winters at Delhi very chilly. The mornings are very misty and foggy, causing many problems for the people.

The summers stretch from April to October while the winters stretch from November to February. The period of autumn, between summers and winters is the most pleasant and is the best time to visit Delhi. Spring can also be a good time to visit Delhi as you can see greenery around the historical monuments making them more attractive.
