Make the most of your Haryana tour by being part of its festivals. People of Haryana are fond of celebrating festivals all round the year. Their year starts with Lohri celebrations and ends with Diwali celebrations. Lohri is celebrated here in January to celebrate the harvesting season. People eat special lohri delicacies like popcorn, til, gazak and gur.

Then in February and March, comes Basant Panchami to welcome the spring season. The locals of the state like indulging in kite flying during this famous festival of North India. After this comes the festival of colors, called Holi in March. This one is a fun-filled festival celebrated by the people of Haryana.

Gangore is another famous festival of Haryana that arrives in March – April. This festival is celebrated in order to honor Goddess Gauri. Women on this occasion like dressing up in their finest clothes. April and June are fun months with two major festivals, Baisakhi and Nirjala Akadashi.

Lord Krishna’s birthday is also celebrated here in August as Janmashtami. Snake worship is also done in Haryana on the occasion of Gugga Naumi in August – September. The victory festival, Dusshera is celebrated with great pomp and show in October – November, which is followed by Diwali.
