Himachal Pradesh is one of those Indian states that knows how to celebrate fairs and festivals with full spirit. People here are full of enthusiasm and closely knit to enjoy all festive occasions. Most of the festivals in Himachal Pradesh are linked with the lifestyle of the people, seasons and harvesting.

Pori is the festival of Lahaul Valley in Himachal Pradesh, which is celebrated at the Trilokinath Temple. During this festival, there is a ritual to bath the statues of the Lord with milk and yogurt. Dusshera is another popular festival of this Indian state that is celebrated in October or November.

While discussing about the festivals of Himachal Pradesh, one can’t ignore mentioning about Holi, the festival of colors. A day prior to Holi, a holy fire is lit that actually marks the beginning of this colorful festival. Himachalis also love celebrating Baisakhi with great pomp and show on April 13th.

The Lahaul district of Himachal Pradesh is also famous for its Halda celebrations that are celebrated as New Year celebrations. Lossar is another form of celebrating New Year with a variety of cultural programs and performances. People here also like celebrating Lohri in January to enjoy the harvesting season.
