Karnataka

Karnataka, also pronounced as Kannada, is one of the most developed states of India. This IT hub of India was once called as the State of Mysore and it was in 1973, when it was renamed as Karnataka. Sharing a border with the Arabian Sea, Goa, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, this state covers an area of not less than 74,122 sq.km.

Karnataka comprises of 29 districts and is known as the eight largest Indian state. This state has witnessed the emergence of many ancient dynasties, like the Nanda Empire, the Mauryan Empire, the Kadamba Dynasty and the Indus Valley Civilization. Gold was first discovered in Harappa, which is in Karnataka.
