The literate people of Kerala enjoy culture, which is a pride. They like wearing traditional dress with minor alterations, men wearing mundu with a shirt and women wearing a set sari in lieu of the traditional mundum neriyathum.

Culture of Kerala is reflected through the rich traditional performing arts. The common dance forms are:

Mohiniattam: Accompanied by music, this is a graceful dance form performed by women.
Kathakali: A rich traditional dance form which reflects a dance drama
Kutiyattam: A theatre in Sanskrit performed at Hindu temples of Kerala.
Kummattikali: A mask dance form, performed during festival Onam.

The classical music of Kerala clearly depicts the rich culture of the state. The classical music in the form of:

Ragas - the Sanskrit music
Talas – ensures rhythmic pattern in a musical composition
Sopanam – the music played in the background during a kathakali dance performance
Melam- normally performed during the festivals conducted at the temples.
Panchavadyam- a music generated using five different type of percussion instrument

Culture of the educated population of Kerala stays balanced by the amalgamation of the different cultures of people living in this state, i.e. Hindus, Muslims, Christian, and Jews.
