Festivals round the year are enjoyed by the literate, diversified population of Kerala It is nice to see people from all backgrounds sharing the same feeling of joy. Below are the festivals celebrated in Kerala: Onam - This is the most popular festival at Kerala. It is performed during the month of August/September every year. This is enjoyed vide singing, dancing and religious ceremonies for a period of ten days.

Nehru Trophy Boat Race held on second Saturday in August : This boat race is held at the Punnamada Lake. Separate races are held for women also.
Payippad Jelotsavam held on 4th Onam day : This festival has religious importance..Snake boat races are held during the fist two days and this is conducted on the fourth day.

Attukal Pongala : This festival gathers lacs of women every year offering pudding to the goddess. The head priest sprinkles the holy water on the pudding and then only the women return the same home.
Thrissur Pooram : You get a glimpse of disciplined elephants decorated with gold ornaments.

Navarathri : This is a festival to honor Saraswati, goddess of learning and knowledge.
Deepavali and Christmas : These festivals are held across the country towards the end of every year. .
