Culture of Maharashtra

Each and every state of India has its own culture and so the state Maharashtra which is a great land and has its unique culture different from other states. It has rich history and its colorful festivals and traditions give the true idea of the culture of Maharashtra.

In Maharashtra some of the great religious persons and reformists were born like Sri Chakradhar, Sri Jnandev, Dr Baba sahib Ambedkar, Baba Amte, Lokmanya Tilak etc and many other philosophers and writers who have spend their life here in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra is also known for its music and folk items like povada, gondals and bharuds which gives us the idea of the culture of Maharashtra. The greatest musical treasure "Sangitratnakara” in the medieval times was written here in Maharashtra. It is also well known for the handicrafts and Kolhapuri chappals and Pithani Sari.
