It won’t be wrong to state that Manipur is a land of festivals and fairs. People here know how to celebrate occasions and be merry. Their year starts and ends with a cycle of festivals. There is hardly a month that is without a festival in Manipur. Celebrating festivals is also a means of being together for the people of Manipur.

Lai Haraoba is a festival celebrated here to worship the sylvan deities. People of Manipur perform a number of festivals on this occasion. Then, there is Yaoshang that is a five days festivals in Manipur celebrated on the full moon day of Phalgun. It is one of the favorite festivals of athletes here.

People of Manipur also celebrate the Ratha Jatra, one of the main festivals of Hindus here that is celebrated for a span of 10 days. In this festival, a rath yatra of Lord Jaganath is taken from His temple. Ramjan ID is also celebrated here with great pomp and show.

Chumpha, Cheiraoba, Heikru Hidongba, Gang Ngai, Kut and Ningol Chakouba are some other popular regional festivals celebrated in Manipur with enthusiasm and a lot of participation from the people of Manipur.
