Known for its natural beauty, Meghalaya is a beautiful state of India that is worth exploring during a tour. The beauty of this state could not even fail to impress the British years ago. Perhaps, this is the reason that they made its capital, Shillong there summer retreat.

Another thing that makes Meghalaya famous is, Cherrapunjee, the wettest place on the earth with maximum amount of rainfall. Cherrapunjee is just about 55km from Meghalaya. Meghalaya is an Indian state surrounded by three hills, Khasi, Garo and Jaintia. Spread over an area of 8700 sq. km, this state shares a border with Assam and Bangladesh.
