Located amidst the green surroundings of north east India, Nagaland has a pleasant weather almost all round the year. The climate of this state is affected with its altitude, geographical conditions and distance from the sea. Due to the hilly surroundings, this state enjoys cool winds.

In summers, the temperature of Nagaland goes up to 31 degrees Celsius and in winters it can falls down to 4 degrees Celsius. Summers here are for a short period of time, while the monsoons are for four months, from June to September. Nagaland enjoys the winters between February and March. Heavy rainfall can be expected in this state between May and August. Average rainfall annually recorded here is between 2000-2500mm.

The best time to visit Nagaland is between September and April, when the temperature is neither too hot nor too cold. You can easily carry comfortable clothing of your choice during this season. However, if you plan to visit this state in summers, you can carry tropical clothes and in winters, you must carry woolens.
