The food is Rajasthan is rated as one of the best foods in India. The lip smacking Rajastani cuisine is greatly influenced by the climate and the topography of the land. The Rajastani cuisine is unique in the aspect that due to the constant lack of water, the food prepared here is different from the rest of India.

Food that lasts long but does not required to be heated is the mantra of the Rajastani cuisines. The people consider food as a part of the unique culture of the state. The original recipes were augmented to include foods from all over the states. Buttermilk, milk and butter are used instead of water. Mango powder is used extensively in Maheshwari cooking.

The influence of Moguls and Rajputs cannot be hidden so long as food is concerned. Compared to the rest of India, the proportion of vegetarian food in Rajasthan is a lot. Food made from milk like laapsi, rasgulla, ghevar, laddos, mawa and malpuas are very popular.
