Influenced by the Buddhist religion, Sikkim celebrates many festivals that have a touch of Buddhism in them. No matter, in which month you plan your tour to Sikkim, you will get to be a part of its various festivals. People of Sikkim know exactly how to celebrate occasions with simplicity.

Saga Dawa is one of the popular Buddhist festivals of Sikkim. This one is in fact, a triple blessed festival and is counted as one of the holiest Buddhist festivals. This is the day, when Lord Buddha took birth and achieved Enlightenment. This festival comprises of three events.

Another famous festival of Sikkim is Lhabab Dhuechen that celebrates the descent of Buddha from heaven to earth. There is a popular legend behind this festival, which says, Lord Buddha stayed in heaven for three months but on this day He returned back for the enlightenment of the human race. Drukpa Tsheshi is celebrated on the 4th day of the 6th month, called Drukpa of the Tibetan calendar.

Then, there is Phang Lhabsol that is celebrated at the snowy mountain range of Kanjchenjunga to worship the universal powers. Celebrate all these festivals in Sikkim and get to know about the hospitable nature of the people living here.
