Sikkim mainly enjoys two climates, summers and winters. Apart from it, rainfall can be expected anytime in this Indian state. Gangtok alone experiences an average rainfall of 325cm per annum. In fact, Sikkim is considered one of the rainiest states of India. Summers are not too hot here, due to the relief brought in by the rains.
The best time to visit Sikkim is between March to June and September to December, when the temperature is pleasant. Tourists can easily plan a tour in these periods and can carry comfortable clothing. Make sure to carry a rain coat, no matter in which season you intend to visit Sikkim.
In summers, the temperature here can rise to maximum 28 degree Celsius, while in winters, it can drop below 0 degree Celsius. Monsoon here lasts from June to September. Due to the state’s high altitude, it has even observed – 40 degree Celsius in winters.
