Though, one of the newest states of India, Uttarakhand has a lot to offer you during a tour. Situated ideally in the northern part of India, this state shares a border with Nepal, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Spread across an area of 20,682 sq. mi, Uttarakhand was initially known as, Uttaranchal.

Apart from Hindi, Kumaoni, Garhwali and Sanskrit are the main languages spoken in Uttarakhand. Considered as one of the sacred lands by a majority of Hindus, this state has many legends about it. It was in 2000, when this state was craved out of Uttar Pradesh. It was a home to ancient dynasties like the Guptas and the Kushan.

Uttarakhand lets you explore its various important and beautiful places like Nainital, Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Dehradun, Haridwar, Roorkee, Rudrapur, Ranikhet, Kashipur, Almora, Haldwani, Devprayag and Gairsen. Even the world famous Corbett National Park is situated in Uttarakhand. This is not all, there is Nanda Devi National Park that is counted in one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
